FIELD: transport engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of protection of passengers at side impact. Proposed energy absorbing door of vehicle has energy absorbing insert 6 between inner panel 2 of door and upholstery 3 of door, with base 7 made integral with flanges at end face parts for fastening insert to inner panel, horizontal and vertical ribs of variable height and thickness made in form of plates. Short stiffening ribs 12 are placed between ribs extending to door upholstery and forming cells to provide uniform distribution of load at side impact. Lower horizontal ribs 13 are provided with thickening to smoothly push passengers from zone of impact (zone E). To provide earlier operation of construction, L-shaped member is used secured by one side to energy absorbing insert 6 and other side, to safety bar 4.
EFFECT: simplified design, provision of smooth displacement of passenger owing to deformation of insert, improved safety.
