FIELD: agriculture and forestry.

SUBSTANCE: sowing ridge is mulched (covered) with air permeable black woven polymeric ribbon equipped with row (or rows) of discretely arranged rectangular recesses with sides ratio of 4:1, and oriented with longer side along ribbon, said recesses being adapted for passage of parts of plant sprouts adjoining ground surface. Covering is secured to soil surface. Pipes of moisture impermeable material are disposed on covering at both sides thereof along recesses, said pipes being equipped at their lower parts adjoining sides of recesses with capillary holes. Height of pipes from film surface is determined from formula H=a(1-tg2α/2)+btgα/2, where a is height of plant part to be protected; b is width of recess; α is maximal angle of falling of solar rays onto surface. Such covering enables creation of favorable conditions for germination of sown seeds and for plant growing in arid climate owing to increased time for moisture retention in root layer of soil, reduced air temperature at plant part adjoining ground, and prevents cultured crop plants from suppression by weeds.

EFFECT: increased efficiency due to improved germinating and growing conditions for plants.
