FIELD: gas-discharge radiation sources for various fields of science and technology, such as photochemistry and medicine.
SUBSTANCE: proposed radiation source in the form of barrier-discharge lamp emitting in transitions of excimer and exciplex molecules has gaseous-medium discharge bulb formed by two coaxial cylindrical tubes made of material transparent on operating wavelength of material; power supply with electrodes whose high-voltage electrode is disposed in internal tube of bulb and grounded electrode composed of perforated segment and solid reflecting one, on external-tube surface. High-voltage electrode is designed so that part of surface disposed opposite perforated segment of grounded electrode abuts against internal wall of bulb thereby forming gas-discharge and buffer spaces of bulb. Radiation source may have, in addition, casing to provide for cooling with air flow. Power supply can be disposed either in casing or outside.
EFFECT: enhanced service life, power density, and cooling efficiency of radiation source.
