FIELD: surface hardening of parts with use of electromechanical working for forming oriented micro-relief of surface layer of part, possibly in different branches of machine engineering.
SUBSTANCE: on cylindrical working portion of surface of tool roller continuous regular geometry pattern is applied; said pattern repeats along circle length. Contours of said pattern represent wavy ribbon having combination of regular figures such as sine curves, circles, squares, hexahedrons or their parts. Width of said ribbon is in range 0.3 - 0.5 mm, its amplitude consists of 0.8 - 1.5 mm, period of pattern repetition is in range 3 - 5 amplitudes. Invention provides possibility for forming on worked surface special oriented micro-relief.
EFFECT: improved structure of surface layer providing enhanced wear resistance and operational reliability of articles.
