FIELD: measuring instrumentation, applicable for provision of reliable identification of presence and kin of damage to the surface of the objects under test.
SUBSTANCE: the method of identification of defects consists in placement on the surface of the object in the point of the supposed defect of a sealing hollow component connected to a vacuum pump for production of a local rarefied volume in the zone located above the damaged point, evacuation of this local zone and measurement of the degree of rarefaction after evacuation, subsequent disconnection of the system from the vacuum pump. Before placement of the sealing hollow component, an additional hermetic sealing of the point of connection of the latter to the surface of the object under test by sealing material is performed, the sealing hollow component made of elastic material and having two through holes for communication with the vacuum pump and with the surface of the object under test respectively is placed over a part of the area of the defect, after which the value and the rate of change of the degree of rarefaction are measured, and the degree and the kind of damage are judged by the nature of graphical dependences of the degree of rarefaction on the test time, if the graphical dependence has the nature of a uniformly diminishing function, the presence of through defects is stated, and if the graphical dependence has the nature of an irregularly diminishing function, where in a certain section a vacuum constancy or a sudden change characterizing the loss of vacuum at the instant depressurization of the system is observed, a presence of surface blind defect is stated.
EFFECT: provided reliable identification of surface defects.
