FIELD: nuclear power engineering; spacer and mixing grids for reactor fuel assemblies.
SUBSTANCE: proposed spacer or mixing grid designed for triangular disposition of fuel elements has subchannels, each made in the form of polygonal tube whose longitudinal axis is parallel to fuel assembly axis. Six faces are parallel to subchannel axis and two triplets of faces are tilted due to different face width along subchannel axis; width of one triplet of faces is smaller at bottom end of subchannel and larger at its top end, that of other triplet of faces is smaller at top end of subchannel and larger at its bottom end. Faces in each triplet are spaced 120 deg. apart about subchannel axis; subchannels are disposed in spacer grid in triangular assemblies of grid abutting against one another by faces parallel to longitudinal axes of subchannels and are positioned in assemblies so as to form inclined channels for coolant passage.
EFFECT: enhanced coolant mixing factor.
