FIELD: electrostatic separators for separation of particles of solid material of different specific gravity.

SUBSTANCE: proposed separator is mainly used for separation of particles of cord fiber from rubber crumb and particles of metal contained in ground tires. Separator ensures separation of particles by specific gravity and separate discharge from separator. Separator is provided with two coaxial cylindrical chambers; inner chamber has taper part narrowing downward; it is provided with branch pipe for delivery of particles of material to be separated in flow of gas which carries particles of separated materials in way of upper edge of inner chamber. Mounted above upper edge of outer cylindrical chamber projecting above upper edge of inner chamber is belt conveyer whose belt is made from gas-permeable material and is used for entrapping particles of solid materials. Lower section of conveyer fully closes cross section of upper edge of outer chamber. Separator has two electrodes connected to unlike poles of power supply source which are mounted in flow of gas carrying the particles of material being separated. Circular upper section of inner chamber may be used as first electrode. This electrode is grounded. Second electrode having holes for passage of gas is mounted in gap between upper and lower sections of conveyer. Particles of material having lesser specific gravity are electrified in electric field sticking to surface of conveyer belt, thus forming dense layer of non-woven material; this layer is separated from belt and is rolled. Separator is provided with unit for separation of particles of materials at high specific gravity accumulating in gas between inner and outer chambers into ferromagnetic and non-magnetic particles.
