FIELD: mining, particularly underground mineral development.
SUBSTANCE: method involves drilling belt and air drifts to prepare extraction pillar and fastening thereof with roof bolting; excavating the pillar in reverse order by performing diagonal cuts from one preparation excavation to another one; controlling rock pressure by roof rock caving and conveying cut coal along development drifts; performing the first cut by passage from drilling belt towards pillar flank at obtuse angle equal to 130° - 150° to pillar width center along with roof bolting; performing the second cut in the similar way beginning from air drift; joining the drifts with mounting chamber extending transversely to drifts; mounting powered roof support sections in the mounting chamber; cutting intermediate drift, which connects mounting chamber with diagonal cross heading, which in turn connects belt and air drifts at distance equal to 3-5 main roof caving pits from pillar flank. Coal is cut and loaded by combines, transportation thereof is performed by self-propelled cars.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of mine development.
