FIELD: transport engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to steering system with servomechanisms and it can be used in steering booster control system. Method provides generation of signal at output of torque meter proportional to torque applied to steering wheel shaft. Two-coordinate displacement of sensitive element of torque meter is provided at which displacement in one direction depends on torque, and displacement in one direction depends on torque, and displacement in orthogonal direction, from angle of turning of steering wheel shaft. At output of torque meter control signal is formed to control reversible servomechanism depending on angle of shaft turning relative to neutral position. Device contains housing accommodating form of inductor with windings connected into bridge measuring circuit, conducting screens with perforated ports installed at ends of parts of controlled shaft pointed to each other and connected by torsion shaft installed concentrically relative to controlled shaft. One of screens encloses the other, ports in first screen are made in two rows with displacement so that ports of one row are opposite to interport lands, and ports in second screen are made in one row, first screen being installed for axial displacement. Outer borders of two rows of first screen ports project beyond the borders of ports of second screen symmetrically to both sides.

EFFECT: provision of generation of signal in servomechanical control system proportional to applied torque and signal depending on angle of shaft turning relative to neutral, returning of shaft from turned into neutral position after disappearance of torque.
