FIELD: electrical engineering; nickel-hydrogen storage batteries for off-line power supply systems.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for servicing nickel-cadmium storage battery in off-line power supply system includes charge-discharge cycling, checkup of voltage across each battery cell, and individual trickle charge of each cell in the course of storage battery discharge; storage battery implementing this method has n series-connected cells, n discharging and n charging circuits of bypass components connected in parallel with each respective cell. Trickle charge of cells is effected by voltage across cell regulated between 0 and 0.8 V; to this end discharging bypass components are made in the form of n electrically isolated rectifiers whose outputs are connected in parallel with each battery cell, respectively, and inputs are connected to additionally introduced dc-to-ac voltage converter.
EFFECT: enhanced operating efficiency and reliability of storage battery.
