FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric engineering industry and may be used to operate nickel-hydrogen accumulator batteries mostly in autonomous power supply systems of artificial Earth satellites (AES). Method for operation of nickel-hydrogen accumulator battery consists in performance of charging-discharging cycles, monitoring of each accumulator voltage and value of polarity reversal capacitance and performance of preliminary recharge, by value of capacitance that is not less than capacitance of preceding polarity reversal, by currents that eliminate formation of explosive concentration of oxygen-hydrogen mixture. Discharge is limited by value of discharging capacitance, from the moment of voltage reduction at any accumulator below 0.5 V, at the level of not more than 0.1 of rated capacitance of accumulator battery, and preliminary recharge after discharge of accumulator battery is carried out with current of (0.04-0.08) of rated capacitance of accumulator battery.
EFFECT: increased reliability and efficiency of nickel-hydrogen accumulator battery operation.
