FIELD: electrical engineering; off-line power supplies for artificial earth satellites.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for servicing nickel-hydrogen storage battery includes charge-discharge cycles at limited charge with respect to analog pressure transducers installed on separate battery cells and battery temperature, battery storage in charged condition, and periodic trickle charge to compensate for in-storage self-discharge capacity of battery. As soon as temperature of any battery cell is brought to desired value in the course of charge before operation of analog temperature transducers, it is shorted out by discharge circuit, charging current of shorting circuit being set to value equal to battery charge current; shirting circuit is opened upon disconnection of battery charge or upon battery cell temperature reduction below desired value by 3-5 °C.
EFFECT: enhanced operating effectiveness and reliability of nickel-hydrogen storage battery.
