FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the electrical industry and can be used in the operation of nickel-hydrogen batteries in Artificial Earth Satellite Stand-By Power Supply System. Method for operating a nickel-hydrogen battery in an Artificial Earth Satellite Stand-By Power Supply System is proposed, which consists in carrying out charge-discharge cycles of a battery, which includes rechargeable battery cells, with the purpose of recombination of oxygen, excluding the formation of an explosive concentration of oxygen-hydrogen mixture. Charge of the nickel-hydrogen battery is carried out after the battery is in the storage mode for 3 hours from the end of the discharge, then the impulse charge with a duty ratio of 0.1 for 6 hours followed by a charge with a constant current up to the setting of the disconnection of the charge and before the beginning of the next discharge a pulse current with a duty cycle of 0.1 is carried out.
EFFECT: increased reliability of operation of the nickel-hydrogen battery is the technical result of the invention.
