FIELD: technology for studying fires, possible use for revealing signs of fire point and burning expansion means on structures and objects, covered in soot during fire.

SUBSTANCE: as research subject, soot precipitations on non-electroconductive surfaces of structures or objects are used, while electric resistance of soot precipitations is measured in different points on aforementioned constructions, received values of decimal electric resistance logarithm are applied to plan of fire area, on basis of result zones having same resistance are built, and fire point zone and main routes of movement of convective streams from fire point are detected by extremely low values of electric resistance. For realization of method device is proposed, in form of indicator, two contacts 1 of indicator are made in form of rods and have spherical shape of ends, between these contacts metallic screen 2 is positioned, covered by isolating material on two sides, and functions of third contact are performed by screened body 3,4,5 of indicator.

EFFECT: possible detection of point signs of fire and signs of burning expansion directions on surfaces of structures and device of any non-electroconductive materials, using prevalent presence of soot on their surfaces.
