FIELD: building, particularly ground shearing tests to determine angle of internal friction, cohesion and pore pressure.

SUBSTANCE: method involves installing ground sample between two dies; connecting one die with pore pressure sensor and with means, which determines water volume to be extracted from the sample; sealing the sample with elastic water-tight shell arranged along side surface thereof and with dies located from top and bottom surfaces; installing upper and lower ferrules around the shell so that the ferrules are spaced apart and may be displaced in horizontal direction one relative another; applying predetermined volumetric pressure to upper die and elastic shell along with measuring water volume to be extracted from ground sample or along with measuring pore pressure; creating shear force in ground sample by displacing one ferrule relative another one after water volume or pore pressure stabilizing; registering time-variable shear force values and pore pressure values corresponding to time-variable shear force values in ground sample, which are used to determine angle of internal friction and ground cohesion. Ground sample testing device comprises air-tight body composed of upper and lower parts. Body cavity communicates with pressure source and with pressure sensing means arranged in the body in spaced apart position. Upper and lower ferrules connected by elastic water-tight shells are installed so that the ferrules may be displaced one from another. Upper and lower dies are installed in the ferrules so that dies and water-tight shell define air-tight chamber for ground sample receiving. One die may perform vertical movement and is connected with pore pressure sensor and with means, which measures water volume to be extracted from the sample.

EFFECT: increased accuracy and extended range of method and device usage for grounds having different consistence and water content.
