FIELD: experimental thermal physics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device is designed for investigating nuclear power stations with respect to their safety to implement methods for investigating accidents, problems of single and multiple destructions of fuel channels in type RBMK reactors, and can be used in industrial and research practice for conducting various heat runs. Heater is made in the form of thermal block of self-spreading high-temperature fusion mixtures provided with igniter, shielding and sealing shells, and mounted on movable supporting assembly; adequate selection of source components of thermal mixture, disposition of its layers and igniter within thermal block, and also selection of centering components mounted on supporting assembly ensure maintenance of desired shape of block combustion products and temperature control in the course of self-spreading high-temperature fusion. Heating of reactor fuel channel by proposed device enables control of heating process within extended speed and temperature range.
EFFECT: enlarged capabilities of conducting experiments in this field.
