FIELD: radio electronic engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method and device can be used for building completely new small-sized surface mounting automatic machines. Method of orientating articles of different shape when transporting them is based on delivery of articles to surface of transportation and formation of article line sequences for subsequent transfer them to common carrier by damped surface of sequent transfer element set with flexible plate which is made for discrete shift. Any transfer element is made for vertical shift to receive articles and to mount or to fix them in corresponding positions at common carrier that is placed under transfer elements. Discrete shift of transfer elements is carried out by means of toothed ropes or by ropes provided with grooves which are functionally connected with step drive to control process of reception, transfer and fixation of articles. Any flexible plate of transfer element at places where it is connected by hinges with toothed ropes or with ropes provided with grooves, is made with rests which provide simple return of transfer element into initial position after the element lowers down to common carrier.
EFFECT: improved reliability of operation.
