METHOD AND DEVICE FOR EVALUATING ATTENTION SELECTIVITY Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC A61B5/16

Abstract RU 2277374 C2

FIELD: medicine; medical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method involves showing test object images on screen as labyrinth having hidden search objects to be found using navigation reference marks by means of rational motor responses and accompanied with rewards. The test object is shown as labyrinth image in two-dimensional contour manner. Navigation reference marks and labels for masking them are arranged around the labyrinth. Search object detection is accompanied with audio or tactile signals corresponding to reward amount. Testee vision field is restricted within circular screen sector and test object is shown in monocular manner. Marker is placed in the center of test object for initially fixing testee sight, the test object being shown in turn in various orientations differing in rotation angle on the screen. Angle magnitude is varied randomly with step being multiple of 30-45°. Maximum reward position is changed from time to time. The number of maximum reward objects is determined and object search speed is measured. Saccade movement patterns and eye pupil responses of an eye cooperating in test object scanning are recorded. Attention selectivity level and its dynamical changes are evaluated from determined parameters in task solving course. Device has computer and image display means with screen, acoustic warning means, eye transducers and manipulator unit connected to it. The device also has testee head holder, light-impermeable cylindrical eye transducers casing having light protection blind, light-impermeable tube, and mechanostimulator. The head holder is collapsible, the tube is conic and provided with monocular. The tube and casing of eye transducers are detachable, have hinged connection and movably fixed on testee head holder. The eye transducers are photometric. Acoustically insulating headphones are means for providing acoustic warning. The mechanostimulator, photometric transducers and headphones are connected to the computer provided with hard- and software enabling one to change labyrinth pattern and the number of search objects, the number of navigation reference marks their shape, size and orientation and contrast level, eccentricity value from marker placed in the test object center, test object image exposure time on the screen and to form signal for supporting tactile action upon the testee and accompanying test objects with acoustic effects.

EFFECT: high accuracy of diagnosis; accelerated diagnostic procedure; wide range of functional applications.
