METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE SEVERITY OF PROLONGED COMPRESSION SYNDROME Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC A61B10/00

Abstract RU 2277862 C1

FIELD: medicine, traumatology, field surgery, medicine of catastrophes.

SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with predicting the result of any variant of compression trauma of soft tissues till the development of ischemic toxicosis during the period of isolation under conditions of emergency situations and detecting optimal volume of first aid in such patients at the place of trauma and during stages of evacuation. One should detect the time of compression since the moment of trauma itself to the onset of first aid. Then it is necessary to detect point evaluation of compressed segment according to the Table, point evaluation of compression time (T): up to 2 h - 1 point, ranged 2-6 h - 2 points, above 6 h - 3 points, point evaluation of age (Cage): ranged 18-45 yr - 3 points, ranged 46-60 - 2 points, above 61 - 1 point, point evaluation of wound character (Cwound): localized wounds, abraded wounds - 4 points, wounds ranged 2-10 cm - 3 points, wounds above 10 cm - 2 points, wounds resulting in affected viability of limbs along vast wounds and open osseous fractures at destruction of the main vessels - 13 points. Prediction should be carried out by the following formula: P=(a+b+c+...)*T+Cage+Cwound, where P - prediction of compression severity; a,b,c, - the sum of points of compresses segments. At P being equal up to 5 and 5 - light trauma is predicted, at 6-15 - trauma being nondangerous for life, 15 and more - trauma being dangerous for life is predicted. The innovation enables to decrease complications and lethality in affected patients in case of compression trauma of soft tissues under conditions of emergency situations due to making decisions according to the quantity of the points established.

EFFECT: higher efficiency and accuracy of prediction.
