UNIT OF FASTENING PIVOT POST TO LOWER BINDER OF OPEN TOP CAR SIDE WALL Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC B61D17/08 

FIELD: railway transport: open-top carts.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to design members of railway vehicles and it can be used at repair and manufacture of open-top cars. Proposed unit fastening pivot post to lower binder of open-top car side wall contains pivot post 1 connected with bolster sheets inside which plate is welded parallel to support flanges, lower binder 2 in form of 100x160 mm angle plate and trapezoidal cover plate 6. Gussets 8, 150-250 mm long and 6-10 mm thick are welded to support flanges of pivot post. Width of gusset corresponds to size of horizontal flange of lower binder of open-top car side wall to which it is welded. Gussets counteract twisting of lower binding angle plate along its longitudinal axis and provide more uniform distribution of fields of stresses in zone of plate welding to profile of pivot post at level of horizontal flange of lower binder.

EFFECT: increased serviceability if unit fastening pivot post to lower binder of open-top car side wall.
