FIELD: food-processing industry; separation of lactose from liquids obtained as byproducts of milk industry and allied branches.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in separation of crystalline mono-hydrate of α-lactose from viscous lactose-containing liquids by simultaneous heating, removal of evaporating steam and mechanical mixing. Plant proposed for realization of this method consists of three devices. One device has horizontal cylindrical housing, revolving horizontal shaft, blades extending radially from shaft towards cylindrical wall of housing and heating jacket. Plant is also provided with cooling unit and unit for grinding and drying.
EFFECT: possibility of obtaining non-hygroscopic product possessing high looseness.
