FIELD: investigation of road accidents.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes metering of upper and lower deflection of brake broken glass fragments from road pavement at place of road accident in direction of car movement and length of axis of ellipse of scattering of broken glass fragments before collision. Then, using one or other method, coefficient of restoration pf speed of movement of fragments with jumping of is found and speed of collision is calculated using definite formula. Result of calculation of car speed at moment of collision determined by formula is checked experimentally by means of mobile stand installed directly at place of road accident.
EFFECT: provision of unprejudiced and reliable evaluation of speed characteristics of car at moment of collision.
