FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method to determine coefficient of tire traction consists in determination of a value of a power torque applied to a hub or a disc of a tested tire. Afterwards they twice change the vertical power load, acting at the tested tire, by jacking the vehicle, and again determine the power torque. By difference of power torques measured in experiments for various cases of jacking they decide on the coefficient of tire traction. The device to determine coefficient of tire traction comprising a system of tire loading with vertical load and torque. The device comprises a stand, a jack to jack a vehicle, comprising a force sensor felt by the jack.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of determination of a traction coefficient for a separate tire and expanded range of method use for testing of large diameter tires.
