SUBSTANCE: one should obtain the picture of ocular fundus to isolate the areas of optic disk and analyze the pictures of optic disk. Then it is necessary to compare the results obtained with standard values and carry out diagnostics of optic nerve's atrophy. Analysis of optic disk picture should be conducted due to detecting the value for the chromaticity of red component of every pixel that constitutes the picture of optic disk, and the brightness of every pixel by gray-color scale. Then one should calculate the coefficient of chromaticity alteration of optic disk determined as the ratio of average value of chromaticity of red-colour pixels to average value of pixel's brightness according to gray-colour scale. Diagnostics should be carried out due to comparing the value of calculated coefficient of chromaticity alteration against the standard value, moreover, as standard value of optic disk pathology one should take the value of the coefficient of chromaticity alteration in a healthy patient.
