FIELD: production of metals from metal oxides with the aid of carbon-containing materials.
SUBSTANCE: metal oxide and carbon-containing material are fed to loading end of one or several chambers and are positively moved towards unloading end. Oxidizer is injected into one or several chambers with the use of part of energy contained in carbon-containing material at liberation of thermal energy and gases under pressure which possesses properties of reductant. Metal oxide is reduced, thus obtaining hot metal- and carbon-containing product which is unloaded from one or several chambers into melting unit where it is heated and hot waste gas under pressure, molten metal and molten slag are obtained after which waste gas, molten metal and molten slag are separated.
EFFECT: reduction of amount of gases forming greenhouse effect; reduced power requirements; enhanced ecological safety.
