FIELD: ammunition of sniper's weapon featuring a high piercing effect with a close grouping of shots when fired at slightly armored targets.

SUBSTANCE: the bullet has a steel and a lead cores and a metal envelope open on the end face of the bullet tail section. The steel core is installed with a partial projection of its head section behind the open front end face of the envelope. The bullet length equals 3.85 to 4.1 of the bullet caliber, the length of its head section equals 1.7 to 1.9 of the caliber, the length of its leading section equals 0.75 to 1.0 of the caliber. The diameter of the inner surface of the envelope leading section equals 0.75 to 1.0 of the caliber. The diameter of the inner surface of the envelope leading section equals 0.85 to 0.91 of the caliber. The steel core is made with the following relations of the geometric parameters: its length equals 1.8 to 2.0 of the caliber, the length of its ogival head section equals 1.3 to 1.6 of the caliber, the diameter of its cylindrical section equals 0.95 to 0.98 of the diameter of the inner surface of the envelope leading section. The tail end face of the steel core is shifted from the conjugation plane of the bullet head and leading sections toward its tail section at a distance of not more than 0.2 of the caliber, and the length of the projecting section of the steel core from the envelope does not exceed 0.7 of the length of its head section.

EFFECT: enhanced bullet armor-piercing ability and accuracy of fire due to optimization of the bullet geometric parameters.
