SUBSTANCE: in accordance to method, required ship route is set, value of route deviation between required ship route and actual ship route during certain time interval is determined. Parameters of mathematical model of ship control system identification are functionally connected to value of helm keel-laying angle and actual one in accordance to ship route. On basis of mathematical model of ship, parameters of system for controlling helm device are optimized.
