FIELD: detection and identification of explosives.

SUBSTANCE: standard values of phase shifts corresponding to the dielectric properties of inclusions of explosives of definite types are preliminarily recorded in the storage of the measuring means, the object under check is radiated by a pulse SHF-signal with preset values of the carrier frequency of the main pulses, their durations and amplitudes within a frequency band from 300 MHz to 150 GHz at a duration of the main pulse not exceeding 10 ms, the value of the phase shift of the received signal relative to the radiated one and its intensity are measured, the absorption factor of the object under check is determined by this value, the measured value of the phase shift of the received signal relative to the radiated one is compared with the standard values, after that the presence of the explosive and its type are determined from the results of comparison with regard to the determined absorption factor of the object under check.

EFFECT: simplified and reliable method of detection and identification of explosives providing its use in mobile devices intended for employment in areas of mass crowding of people, as well as in various enclosures.
