FIELD: technology for painting, in particular, of at least a part of automobile, and also concerns masking seam, used for realization of methods for masking and painting and methods for making said seam.

SUBSTANCE: in the method for masking at least one edge of a part of surface being processed, masking adhesive seam is utilized, containing elongated cellular material, resistant to surface processing, and at least one adhesive portion, containing at least one groove, at least one part of the wall of which contains a part, inclined at an angle less than 45° relatively to adhesive portion. Application of aforementioned seam may be performed by directing aforementioned angle during insertion into groove by insertion into groove of at least a part of at least one finger of user. Aforementioned masking adhesive seam is applied with its possible removal from at least a part of edge of surface being processed, and it is removed when processing is finished.

EFFECT: high quality of painting, no sharply blackened limits and shaded zones remain after painting, and between newly painted parts of automobile and other parts full identity is guaranteed.
