FIELD: welding processes and equipment, possibly restoration of damaged journals of cast iron rolling rolls of sheet rolling mills.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of removing damaged layer by depth equal at least to 10 mm; surfacing journal under flux layer with use of wire electrode of austenite steel at electric current intensity 300 - 500 A and electric arc voltage 30 - 34 V; moving electrode along axis of roll at stroke 8 - 12 mm; during surfacing blowing journal by means of compressed air stream.
EFFECT: enhanced strength of restored rolls due to high quality of surfaced metal provided by high rigidity and strength of surfaced layer.
