FIELD: metal working, possibly friction surface hardening of working sphere surfaces.
SUBSTANCE: tool includes body and working portion made of material with low coefficient of heat conduction. Stepped mandrel is used as tool body. Working portion is in the form of sleeve having on its end intermittent working spherical surface reciprocal to worked spherical surface and having recesses in the form of radial grooves. Said sleeve is mounted with possibility of self-aligning on less step of mandrel on set of disc springs. Length of each protrusion formed by means of radial grooves exceeds at least by two times width of groove. Sleeve has ribs in outer surface for intensifying cooling process. Tool is mounted by desired inclination angle relative to plane normal to blank axis and passing through center of worked spherical surface.
EFFECT: lowered labor consumption of working, improved quality of hardened layer.
