FIELD: abrasive machining, in particular, fine grinding of cylindrical parts, more particular, nuclear fuel pellets.
SUBSTANCE: method involves placing part to be machined on supporting knife between grinding disk and drive abrasive disk; imparting rotation to said disks in single direction, with action of grinding disk upon part being provided from the top to the bottom. Method uses protective apparatus having inner part corresponding in its shape to that of grinding and drive disks and defining narrow peripheral gaps for circulation of gas flows containing dust particles. During grinding process, dust particles produced by grinding disk as well as by drive disk are conveyed to lower zone of grinding disk in gas flow created by rotation of grinding disk and also by forced suction means.
EFFECT: controllable process for withdrawal of dust particles created during grinding process and reduced contamination of glove box at moderate power of suction means.
