METHOD FOR DETERMINING PARKINSON DISEASE TREATMENT EFFECTIVENESS Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC A61B3/113

Abstract RU 2285441 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves carrying out electrophysiological examination. The examination is carried out in keeping patient head unmovable with eyes fixed the central and peripheral visual stimuli. Peripheral stimuli are switched in random way in various time intervals. Saccadic eye movements are recorded and their latent periods are measured. The peripheral visual stimuli are distributed around the central one in diametrically opposite arrangement. Central visual stimulus exposure time is set to be equal to 700-1000 ms and peripheral ones of 1000-1300 ms. The visual stimuli are switched with three units. A peripheral stimulus is represented in the first unit with 50-500 ms long pauses after having switched off the central stimulus and in the second one immediately after having switched off the central stimulus and in the third one peripheral stimulus is represented before switching off the central stimulus with 50-500 ms long overlay. Mean latent period value is calculated from the results. The studies are carried out before the treatment and during treatment course or when changing drug dose. The treatment is diagnosed to be efficient when mean value of latent period of saccadic eye movements becomes reduced.

EFFECT: high reliability of diagnosis.
