FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to investigation of steel composition for knives designated for metal scarp cutting. Invention claims steel comprising components in the following ratio, wt.-%: carbon, 0.47-0.57; manganese, 0.40-0.70; silicon, 0.30-0.49; chrome, 1.40-1.60; nickel, 3.40-3.80; vanadium, 0.21-0.35; molybdenum, 0.51-0.60; nitrogen, 0.013-0.02; niobium, 0.005-0.02; aluminum, 0.015-0.035, and iron, the balance. Steel can comprise sulfur, 0.02, not above, and phosphorus, 0.020, not above as impurities. Invention provides enhancing exploitation stability of knives based on significant increase of their viscosity, strength and resistance against fragile destruction.
EFFECT: improved and valuable properties of steel.
