FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing alloys of aluminum with rare metals. Method involves metallothermal reduction of zirconium compounds in halide melts. The chloride melt containing 3-7 wt.-% of dissolved zirconium and potassium and sodium chlorides in the ratio = (2-3) is reduced with alloy aluminum-magnesium. Invention provides preparing the strong and plastic alloy at relatively low temperature comprising zirconium with maximal uptake effect (93%) and decreasing cost of prepared master alloy by 20-30% based on decreasing consumption of expensive potassium fluorozirconate by 20%.
EFFECT: improved preparing method of master alloy.
