METHOD OF DISINFECTING WATER WITH HYDROGEN PEROXIDE Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC C02F1/50 C02F1/72 A61L2/23

Abstract RU 2288176 C1

FIELD: water treatment processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of treating water with hydrogen peroxide in presence of heterogeneous catalyst containing magnesium and silver compounds and can be used to disinfect drinking water in water supply systems of towns and other residential sites. Disinfection process comprises single hydrogen peroxide treatment of water, after which heterogeneous catalyst is added to water, said heterogeneous catalyst being prepared by mixing bentonite clay and pyrolusite powder with silver nitrate or sulfate aqueous solution at weight ratio bentonite clay/pyrolusite/silver salt (as silver ions) (100-200):(1600-2500):1, after which thus obtained paste is partially dried at 120-125°C and molded in the form of pellets or granules. Preferably 0.1-0.5% silver salt solution is used and contact time of catalyst with disinfected water is 0.2-0.4 h. Method simplifies process of disinfecting water to drinking conditions and prevents possibility of secondary bacterial contamination of water over a long (no less than one month) period of time and leads to reduction of expenses, mainly due to decreased amount of silver used in preparation of catalyst without loss of its activity.

EFFECT: simplified and reduced in price process and increased disinfection activity.
