FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed cellular element for exhaust gas system has hood, at least one compression limiter and metal die with mean initial diameter connected with hood of cellular element by compression limiter. At action of thermal load on die and/or after disappearance of said load, mean initial diameter of die decreases maximum by 5%, preferably, maximum by 25%, owing to creation of stretching stress directed outwards on at least part of die by one compression limiter. Stress limiter has thermal expansion coefficient differing from thermal expansion coefficient of die and/or has specific surface heat capacity differing from specific surface heat capacity of die.
EFFECT: increased service life of cellular element.
