FIELD: railway transport: permanent way.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for building, maintenance and repair of rail tracks. Proposed compacting and tamping tool has rod secured in vibratory device whose lower end is made in form of compacting head and tamping plate secured on rod by means of elastic suspension with possibility of displacement over head. Tamping plate is provided with projection on its upper surface. Elastic suspension is essentially one member with arc-shaped cross section made of strip of elastic material whose free legs are secured on projection of tamping plate, and loop part, on rod. Head is provided with cross ribs in form of bars with wedge-like lower part rigidly secured on head so that upper part of bar encloses head from sides and its wedge-like part is located lower than head.
EFFECT: increased volume and degree of compacting of ballast per cycle of operation of tool.
