FIELD: mechanical engineering; drives of machines for transmission of torque.
SUBSTANCE: this universal joint is used for transmission of torque under conditions when axes of shafts being connected are located at considerable angular misalignment and circular frequency of drive and driven members of mechanism shall coincide. Proposed constant velocity universal joint has two clutch members whose form provides for interaction with shafts being connected and intermediate rolling members. First clutch member has outer and inner spherical coaxial surfaces and second clutch member has outer spherical surface with common center. Both clutch members are provided with slots with taper working surfaces in meridional planes where rollers made in form of truncated cones are mounted on axle passing through oval opening of cross-piece provided with two carriers with spherical heads received by respective holes of both clutch members. Generatrices of all working taper surfaces of engageable parts of universal joint meet at common center of spherical surfaces of clutch members.
EFFECT: simplified construction; enhanced reliability.
