FIELD: paper-and-pulp industry.
SUBSTANCE: novel method for preparing powdered water-soluble cellulose derivative comprises following stages: (i) filter residue obtained after reaction of cellulose with alkylation of hydroxylation agent, which is cellulose derivative having 40 to 60 wt % water, is subjected to swelling or diluted in water taken in amount 65 to 78% based on the total weight, and immediately after that (ii) water contained in dissolved or swelled cellulose derivative is transferred into vapor phase on high-speed shock-and-reflection mill with the aid of heat-carrying and transporting gas, while dissolved or swelled cellulose derivative is transferred into solid form, namely into form of superfine particles, (iii) the latter are separated from heat-carrying and transporting gas and, if necessary, (iv) dried.
EFFECT: achieved desired degree of polymerization, enabled preparation of easily flowing and not horny variable-density product.
