FIELD: polymer materials.

SUBSTANCE: invention provides foamed plastic containing a polymer including multiple cells and at least one absorbing clay dispersed in the polymer, said foamed plastic being characterized by multimodal size distribution of cells and containing less than 0.2 wt parts of bentonite per 100 wt parts polymer. Preparation of foamed plastic comprises: (i) preparing foamable polymer composition by combining plasticized polymer composition, which contains at least one absorbing clay, with foaming agent composition, including 0.5 to 99.5% carbon dioxide and 0.5 to 80% water based on the total weight of foaming agent composition, at initial pressure excluding foaming; and (ii) expanding foamable polymer composition into polymeric multiple cells-including foamed plastic by reducing pressure from initial value to a lower pressure, wherein foamable composition contains less than 0.2 wt parts of bentonite per 100 wt parts polymer and foamed plastic is characterized by multimodal size distribution of cells.

EFFECT: achieved multimodality in foamed plastic reduced density, good compression strength and good heat-insulation properties.
