FIELD: medicine, pharmacy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions and methods used in treatment or prophylaxis of toxic effects of therapeutic agents in mammals. The composition consists of N-acetylcysteine taken in a dose decreasing toxicity in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable filling agent or carrier and a therapeutic agent taken in the therapeutic dose or in the larger dose that induces oxidative stress. The standard dose of N-acetylcysteine comprises at least 1.5 mg of N-acetylcysteine/kg of body weight but not above 2000 mg of N-acetylcysteine. The successive of combined administration of N-acetylcysteine confers safety of the therapeutic agent used in standard therapeutic doses accepted now and allows enhancing doses of the therapeutic agent that are administrated in aims for providing its favorable effect and without toxic adverse effects.
EFFECT: improved methods for treatment and prophylaxis, improved and valuable medicinal properties of compositions.
