FIELD: medical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: device has polarization-retaining optical fiber enabling collection and delivery of radiation scattered on an object to be conducted with single fiber. The device has broadband linear polarized radiation source. Optical fiber divider is available between optical fiber segment usable for illuminating object under study and probe. The divider is connected to optical fiber segment usable for transmitting scattered radiation from the object under study. The segment is connected in its turn to radiation receiver by means of polarizing optical fiber divider having two fiber output channels for orthogonal polarization components. The optical fiber segment usable for illuminating object under study and placed between the broadband linear polarized radiation source and optical fiber divider, probe and the optical fiber segment usable for transmitting scattered radiation from the object under study from the optical fiber divider to polarizing optical fiber divider are manufactured from polarization-retaining optical fiber oriented in a way that one of its own orthogonal modes coincides with broadband radiation source polarization.

EFFECT: high accuracy of measurements; reduced probe thickness allowing intracavitary examination to be carried out.
