SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of optical information systems of optoelectronics, to methods and devices for fiber optic sensors, in particular navigation fiber optic gyroscopes, medical optical low-coherence tomographs, as well as fiber optic systems for polarization quantum cryptography. A method for suppressing polarization amplitude-frequency noise in fiber-optic sensors using a single-mode anisotropic light guide, according to which low-coherent optical radiation is introduced into the single-mode anisotropic light guide, which has passed a polarizer installed with an arbitrary axis orientation, the output optical radiation of the light guide is passed through a phase compensator and a linear analyzer, six successive orientational rotations of the compensator and analyzer are carried out at the corresponding angles; for each rotation, the spectral dependence of the intensity of the transmitted radiation on the wavelength of the probing radiation is measured. Next, the spectral dependence of the 4 components of the Stokes vector is determined, by which the spectral dependence of the angle of ellipticity of the polarization of the fiber is determined, the position of the polarizer axis is selected corresponding to the minimum spectral change in the angle of ellipticity at the output of the investigated fiber.

EFFECT: decrease in the level of polarization amplitude-frequency noise of fiber-optic gyroscopes by more than two orders of magnitude while minimizing the angle between the optical axis of a single-mode anisotropic fiber and the axis of the polarizer.
