FIELD: medicine; medical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method involves cutting notches on thread with geometrical blade shape and/or its movement when cutting, being varied. The method also involves using cutting instrument for making plurality of notches on the external surface of surgical thread. The notches produced in said way when applying given method have the same or randomly varying pattern. Device has cutting installation for holding the thread in cutting it, blades set and means for displacing the set.
EFFECT: wide range of functional applications.
