FIELD: processes for electric arc welding by means of consumable electrode, namely apparatuses for shaping pulses of welding electric current, possibly in different branches of machine engineering.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes three-phase semi-controlled bridge type rectifier supplied from three-phase step-down transformer; charging choke; charging and discharging thyristors, accumulation device. The last is in the form of shaping circuit having n cells; each cell includes connected in series capacitor and choke. One (front) terminal of shaping circuit is connected through charging choke and charging thyristor with semi-controlled rectifier; rear terminal of shaping circuit is connected through discharging rapidly saturating choke and through discharging thyristor with electric arc of welding current. Such rapidly saturating choke serves simultaneously as choke of last cell.

EFFECT: possibility for minimizing energy of pulses and for enhancing stability of process due to providing bell-like top-cut shape of welding current impulse.
