SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a novel mixture of acylated cellobiose of the general formula (I): wherein X represents acyl group -(R-CO-) or hydrogen atom (H); Z represents acyl group -(R'-CO-) or H and at least 50% of Z radicals are acylated and in average above 6 X+Z radicals are acylated and wherein R represents hydrocarbon radical with saturated or unsaturated linear or branched chain comprising from 5 to 31 carbon atoms; R' represents radical distinct from R and representing: (i) hydrocarbon radical with saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched chain comprising from 1 to 31 carbon atoms optionally substituted with fluorine atom, amino-group, amido-group, phenyl group, naphthyl group, biphenyl group, cyclohexyl or cyclooctyl group, or (ii) aromatic hydrocarbon radical comprising 26 carbon atoms, not above, comprising phenyl, naphthyl or biphenyl group optionally substituted with alkyl or alkoxy-group comprising up to 20 carbon atoms or with halogen atom or nitro-group, or alkylamine or alkylamide ester group, or (iii) cycloaliphatic comprising cyclohexyl or cyclooctyl group optionally substituted with alkyl or alkoxy-group comprising up to 20 carbon atoms, or with phenyl, naphthyl or biphenyl group. Proposed mixture can be used for thickening or a cross-linking liquid not mixing with water, to a method for its preparing, to cosmetic composition based on thereof, to using cosmetic composition for applying on skin and to a method for thickening or cross-linking liquid not mixing with water.
