FIELD: apparatuses for applying coatings in vacuum, possibly application of protecting, strengthening and decorative coatings onto different-designation articles.

SUBSTANCE: installation includes housing 1 of vacuum chamber, magnetrons 2 and 3 having target and magnetic system; rotary drum 12 for placing worked articles. On inner surface of drum 11 there are struts 13 made with possibility of arranging between them and securing to drum 12 and(or) to struts 13 at least one carrier 11 for placing in it containers with treated articles. Containers are made with possibility of applying coatings only onto selected portions of article surface and they are arranged in carrier 11 one over another with possibility of fixing them. Number of containers placed in carrier 11 is selected in such a way that the most upper container was placed outside spraying zone. It provides possibility for applying coatings on separate zones of article surface, for applying stepped coatings and successively applying coatings onto different zones of surface, possibility for simultaneously applying coatings onto large number of articles with high strength characteristics of coatings and improved adhesion of coatings.

EFFECT: enlarged functional possibilities of installation, improved quality of applied coatings.
