LINEAR PNEUMATIC SYSTEM FOR SETTING VEHICLES INTO MOTION Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC B61B13/12

Abstract RU 2296683 C2

FIELD: transport engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed linear system for setting vehicle into motion designed for mounting along route has tunnel drive line divided in length into great number of relatively sealed sectors connected by ends by means of sector shutoff pneumatic valves; at least one main line supply pipeline laid along drive line to supply air into each sector of drive line made up of great number of sectors or to rarefy air in each sector of great number of sectors of drive line; at least two main line pneumatic valves near corresponding ends of each sector for selective communicating with main supply pipeline; and two release pneumatic valves near corresponding ends of each sector for selective communication with atmosphere for release or take in air. According to proposed method of setting vehicle into motion to move along route containing tunnel drive line divided in length into great number of relatively sealed sectors in which vehicle to be set into motion is connected with piston moving in drive line, vacuum or higher pressure air is electively supplied from adjoining main line into each sector of great number of relatively sealed sectors. Vacuum or higher pressure is selectively fed into corresponding end section or sections of sector used at this time to provide pressure drop across piston, and piston is set into motion to move from sector to sector by communicating following sector with atmosphere. Then air is allowed to flow and piston is allowed to pass between current sector and following sector. Then vacuum or higher pressure air from said main line is fed into said adjoining sector which is new current sector, and cycle repeats.

EFFECT: improved reliability and safety, reduce power consumption.
