FIELD: electronics, possible use for measuring polarization potential of, for example, a pipeline.
SUBSTANCE: non self-polarizing comparison electrode contains non current-conductive body, filled with electrolyte composed of saturated solution of copper sulfate in a mixture of water and ethylene glycol, copper rod located in the body, connected to clamp of clamp of connector block, ion-exchange membrane, pressed via a packing insert to the body by means of a sleeve with perforation. Mounted on the body of electrode is a corrosion indicator, consisting of non current-conductive body, mounted inside of which is control plate, connected to indicator-plates, having respectively different thickness. All plates are connected by control conductors with clamps of connector block. Area of working surface of corrosion indicator amounts to 615-625 mm2.
EFFECT: expanded functional capabilities of non self-polarizing comparison electrode, namely, capacity for usage of comparison electrode with corrosion indicator as potential sensor, allowing to not only control potentials of underground structure, providing indirect estimate of corrosion condition, but also to estimate directly the threat of corrosion effect; increased reliability and precision when diagnosing corrosion condition of external surface of underground metallic structure.
